To the editor:
Not too long ago when Saddam was planning to occupy Kuwait, how many nations got together (fast) and rushed in to stop the dictator? Could it have been about the oil? Because the West stood united, Saddam withdrew. The West did not wait for the evil dictator to bomb the country back to the stone age.
And now about Ukraine: Why is international help so late in coming? Long before Feb. 24, 2022 when the Russian Army build up on Ukraine’s boarder, the West knew that the Kreml-Monster was up to no good. “Putin would not dare invade his neighbor; Don’t make Putin angry; Let’s wait and see,” we were told. Right - Putin has nukes, so has the West. Kowtow to a warmonger, a mad man?
No oil, just grains that feed many third-world nations. It’s just not on top of the list. Too bad.
Zelenskyy is begging daily for weapons. I do not understand the hesitation. His country is being destroyed and still this statesman does not have the means to fight the invaders.
What is the free world waiting for? Send the urgently needed fighting tools to help Ukraine survive. Don’t wait until the country is completely destroyed.
The whole country needs a hug.
