Warwick. Film screening for Holocaust Remembrance Day

The film “Resistance” (2020) will be screened at the Albert Wisner Public Library on Monday, April 28, at 1 p.m. for Yom Hashoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The screening will include an introduction and brief explanation of the Holocaust by Linda Dubin.

“Resistance,” starring Jesse Eisenberg, was inspired by a true story about a young entertainer who became involved in the Jewish section of the French Resistance. He helped rescue and hide Jewish children and was eventually pursued by a ruthless SS officer known as “The Butcher of Lyon.”

Audiences may be surprised to learn the identity of the young Resistance leader at the end of the film.

This film was selected because although many movies address the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, less is heard about the Jews who fought back and survived.

This is part of an annual series of films for Holocaust Remembrance Day, as well as the library’s weekly “Monday Afternoon at the Movies” series.

The showing is free and open to the public. Albert Wisner Public Library is located at 1 McFarland Drive, Warwick, NY.
