Trees grow in Sugar Loaf
Sugar Loaf. Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day by donating to the Sugar Loaf Memorial Tree Project.

The Sugar Loaf Community Foundation (SLCF) invites individuals and organizations to celebrate Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 25) by donating memorial trees to the hamlet.
In 2021, Goshen landscape architect Karen Arent was commissioned to design a conceptual street tree plan.
The first phase of plantings began last spring, made possible by a generous donation from Richard and Susan Logothetis for tree installations at the Sugar Loaf gateway at Kings Highway and the Sugar Loaf bypass.
With the transfer of Kings Highway to the Town of Chester, new trees can now be planted within the town’s right-of-way.
In addition to the gateway plantings, six memorial trees were added along barren roadside sections of the hamlet.
Each tree will be accompanied by an engraved memorial plaque, to be placed on Arbor Day by the donating families.
To participate in the SLCF Memorial Tree Project, contact project chair Nick Zungoli at zungoli@optonline.net or call 845-469-9382.
Trees cost $325, including a 6-inch by 4-inch engraved stainless steel marker.
