Sustainable Warwick announces 2025 Coolest Recycling Drive
Warwick. The Coolest Recycling Drive is open to all residents of Orange County and will collect refrigerant-containing appliances to properly recycle them.

The Coolest Recycling Drive is back for its third year in Warwick and this year the Town of Warwick’s Climate Smart Communities Task Force is co-sponsoring the drive with Sustainable Warwick.
The drive is open to all residents of Orange County and will collect refrigerant-containing appliances to properly recycle them.
This service (which usually costs $15) is free to everyone. It includes appliances such as refrigerators, window air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers and mini-fridges – any consumer appliance that has refrigerants. Refrigerant tanks and canisters are also accepted.
Note that full-size refrigerators are only accepted during drop-off events held at Warwick DPW, 63 Public Works Road.
“We are especially pleased to be teaming up with the Chester Conservation Advisory Council for their drop-off event by Chester Town Hall on Saturday, April 12th, and with the Greenwood Lake Lions Club for a drop-off event held at GWL DPW the following day, Sunday, April 13th,” said Michael Helme, coordinator of the Coolest Recycling Drive.
“In this drive, we make sure the synthetic chemicals used as refrigerants are properly recovered and not emitted to the atmosphere,” Helme added. “We also recycle all the metals in the old appliances. In general recycling is important, but we believe properly recycling a refrigerant-containing appliance has the greatest impact of anything most of us will ever recycle.”
Drop-off events the first weekend of the drive will be held at the following locations and times:
Saturday, April 12
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chester Town Hall, 1786 Kings Highway
Sunday, April 13
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenwood Lake Village DPW, 70 Elm St. Greenwood Lake, NY 10925
Monday, April 14
3 to 6:30 p.m. at Warwick DPW, 63 Public Works Road
On the last day of the drive, Saturday April 26, a drop-off event will be held near Warwick DPW during the hours of Operation Clean Sweep.
Plans for other drop-off events will be announced in the future.
