Looking for a great way to spend a Saturday outdoors? Saturday, April 26th is National “Celebrate Trails Day,” a day set aside in honor of America’s incredible trails.

Hosted each year on the fourth Saturday of April, Celebrate Trails Day encourages people across the country to get outside and explore the trails that help to make our communities so special.

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus is a frequent user of the County’s Heritage Trail, which offers scenic views, historical landmarks and a peaceful atmosphere for walking, biking, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature.

The trail is 19.5 miles long from Middletown to Harriman along what used to be the railroad tracks of the Graham Line, a freight bypass from Harriman to Otisville.

Whether you’re a regular on the Trail or a “newbie,” Saturday April 26th, or any day, is a great opportunity to experience everything the Heritage Trail has to offer.

No need to sign up or register, just grab your walking or running shoes or a bike and make the most of a (hopefully) beautiful day outside. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature, enjoy the fresh air, and support our local parks, as well as the businesses that are along the trail.
