West Point. Free organ recital on May 4 at the U.S. Military Academy
The Class of 1936 Distinguished Organists Series will present Gail Archer, international concert organist, on Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. in the West Point Cadet Chapel.
Archer will play a variety of works spanning many centuries on the Cadet Chapel organ, the world’s largest all-pipe instrument in a house of worship.
Archer is presently the organist and organ faculty at Vassar College and also teaches at Barnard College. She has released various professional recordings, with explorations in the music of Bach, Messiaen, and composers of various nationalities — American, Russian, Ukrainian and British, among others.
The recital is free for the general public.
Access onto West Point requires a Department of Defense ID or a Visitor’s Pass, which may be obtained at the Visitor Control Center (2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996). Parking is available around the chapel building, 722 Derussy Loop, without restriction on Sundays.
