Betty LaVerle Wadeson

Betty Wadeson, 93, passed away surrounded by her children on January 3, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Betty LaVerle Jacobson was born on December 15, 1930, near Walcott, ND, to Henry and Olga (Helgeson) Jacobson. She graduated from Enderlin High School in 1948, enjoying participation in the choir and play performances. She held various jobs during her high school years at the cafe, bakery, and bank in Enderlin.
Betty married Jewell Wadeson on December 17, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin. Betty and Jewell raised their five children while farming near Alice, ND. When living on their farm, Betty was actively involved in the community homemakers club and enjoyed and participated in Enderlin bowling leagues. She took pride in growing a large vegetable garden and then harvesting and canning all of the garden produce for her family. Betty enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. There was always a pan of bars and a few batches of home-baked cookies on hand to share with neighbors and friends stopping by for coffee. Sometimes the cookies that she thought were in the freezer for safekeeping were found to be empty frozen containers. Betty was an excellent seamstress, sewing many clothes for her children. As an active member of the Alice Moravian Church, Betty participated in Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School.
Upon retirement from farming in 1984, Betty and Jewell moved to Fargo. Together, they enjoyed many winters at their home in Mesa, AZ. Continuing her love of bowling, she participated in various leagues in Fargo. Betty was an avid reader from a young age and often read two to three books a week. She had a passion for history, keeping up with current events and politics, and loved to engage in lively conversation, sharing her knowledge. Betty always said her family was her greatest life accomplishment. Her happiest moments were when she could spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children; Barbara Geeslin, Perham, MN, Nancy (Darwin) Baerwald, Cando, ND, Kristi (Robert) Lee, Fargo, ND, Susan (David) Samuels, Berthoud, CO, Paul (Amy) Wadeson, Fingal, ND. Additionally, she is survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six sisters.
