Supporting the election of Corey Bachman and Barry Cheney to the Warwick Village Board
With the delay of the Village election to Sept. 15, I thought I’d write to remind folks about this important vote and take the opportunity to again encourage support of Corey Bachman and Barry Cheney for the two open positions.
When I wrote to endorse Corey back in January, it was because I was impressed with his enthusiasm and desire to roll up his sleeves and work for the Village residents. I continue to be impressed with his commitment to this position.
Over the past several months when the election was delayed and so many things were put on hold, Corey hasn’t stopped learning. I’ve had many conversations, text and email exchanges with him where he is asking questions about the Village Board work. He’s asked me specific questions about the comprehensive master plan, the Village code, the budget and many questions about general policies and procedures. It’s clear to me that Corey is studying these documents and working hard to hit the ground running once elected.
He’s attended every Village meeting that’s been streamed on Facebook and he was at every budget work session that took place before the pandemic hit.
Corey has also been very busy during this time working with the Lion’s Club and the Warwick Historical Society – two important organizations that support our Village and Town.
Corey’s detail-oriented approach will be an asset to the Village Board; his desire to study all sides and make decisions based on that study is an important trait for Village leadership and his commitment to community service is admirable and makes him a role model for the Village.
My support for Barry Cheney is based on all of the intricate work he has accomplished for the Village. Barry has taken on so many tedious projects for the benefit of the Village. His work to update the water and sewer systems has not only saved the taxpayer money but brings immeasurable value to prepare us for the new systems that are in the works.
Apart from the benefit of having a professional engineer on the board, we have been lucky to have such a hard-working deputy mayor who will take on projects like these and turn them around so successfully.
Barry is easy to work with; he is open minded and willing to discuss varying views before making a decision. He’s a good man who has spent countless hours in various community organizations including decades working with the Warwick Little League many years after his kids played on the league.
Barry’s almost 30 years with the Village Planning Board brings so much value to the work of the Village Board. We have been lucky to have him and I’m grateful he is willing to stay for another term and more hard work.
