Why I am voting for the ‘newest’ candidates for the Warwick Valley School Board
These are the “newest” candidates who will be running for the three open seats Tuesday, May 18, for the Warwick Board of Education and why I will be voting for them:
Tiffany Howell
Two children currently in the school district Police Officer (assigned to Youth Strategies’ (goal to keep kids out of the criminal’s justice system thru resources and services); Masters Degree; Member of the Rotary Holy Name Society; goal to be a leader in our children’s education as a district not followers. Supports five-day a week in-person learning. Supports transparency for all spending decisions before they are made.
Is against the hiring of a NYC professor to advise on how to roll out the “Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework” (just because two other districts did). Looks for way to cut waste while maintaining high educational standards our children deserve.
Will Tiffany Howell get my vote?
Yes. Tiffany Howell is a respected Police Officer who works to help children daily. And she is a member of societies I hold in esteem. She is against the hiring of a professor from NYC to help us roll out CR-S which is just a pretty covering for CRT (critical race theory - note my words not hers, please see this link for more info on this CRT stuff https://www.britannica.com/topic/critical-race-theory).
She wants to tap the talents of our teachers and administrators and not waste tax dollars on framework that is clearly designed for a big city not our school district.
Bob Larsen
Notes: Two children currently in the school district Business. COO - https://www.facebook.com/iSectra/Youth Sports Coach. Family oriented education process. Has children in the school district. Value of “Learn a lot, be kind, help people and have fun.”
Active family involvement in education so learning at home is consistent with integrated curriculum at schools.
Will Bob Larsen get my vote?
Yes. The values that Mr. Larsen has disclosed in his press release and that he is actively involved with youth sports are values I embrace feel would make him a great board member. His business expertise would make him a great steward of our tax dollars.
His “family involved in the education process” ethic and his mantra of “Learn a lot, be kind, help people and have fun” say a lot about him.
Bill Fanos
Three children currently in the school district. FDNY officer. 45-year town resident. Youth sports coach. Respects our teachers school-aged children. Supports five-day per week in-person instruction for all K-12 students. Will advocate for parents and teachers who overwhelmingly support in-person instruction (as demonstrated by the climate survey of last year). Transparency in the curriculum standards and protocols for parents to make an informed decision before implementation in the classroom. Transparency in the spending by the Superintendent of Schools and scrutinizing any proposed spending.
Will Bill Fanos get my vote?
Mr. Fanos has disclosed in his press release values I embrace and I feel his education and professional training as an officer in the NYC Fire Department will make him an asset to the School Board and an excellent advocate for the taxpayers, parents and ultimately the children of our school district.
Please get out and vote for Tiffany Howell, Bob Larsen and Bill Fanos and help save our children from the indoctrination that politics will rapidly bring to our education system.
Educate yourselves and vote, vote, vote. Please do your own research by just searching Facebook and Google. Make you own decisions.
I have done and made mine.
