Critical Race Theory and ‘the historical difference between the American and French Revolutions’

Several recent letters supporting the teaching of Critical Race Theory have claimed that those disagreeing with it want to censor the teaching of history.

That is totally false.

For example, it was stated that Martin Luther King would be excluded from the curriculum. Dr. King said, “The business of America is freedom.”

That is an idea that CRT opposes because CRT is ahistorical. It is ideological.

Opposing CRT does not mean opposing teaching history and historiography. It is CRT that does so.

One letter mentioned critical thinking is required. CRT is not about critical thinking.

It is about being critical, that is opposing the system to bring it down.

It would do well to reflect on the historical difference between the American and French Revolutions.

America renovated its structure as the people continued to live in it.

In France, the structure was destroyed for the purpose of changing everything which led to the Reign of Terror and then Napoleon, whose name was reprised in Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

CRT has a heritage much closer to the latter.
