On Saturday, Dec. 12, the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus held its ninth annual Breakfast with Santa.
Because of social distancing requirements, we considered canceling the breakfast this year. After much thought, it was decided that in a year in which kids’ lives have been turned upside down by the pandemic, the Breakfast with Santa was more important than ever.
As a result this year’s Breakfast with Santa became a drive-through event.
More than 150 children enjoyed a bagged breakfast and a toy from Santa as well as being greeted by Santa himself, Rudolph and the Gingerbread Man. As they have in past years, the ShopRite of Warwick generously donated the food for the event. The toys for the breakfast were donated by ESM Ferolie and its employees.
Volunteers from the Knights, family members, and the youth of the parish all helped to make the breakfast a tremendous success.
Co-chairs of the Breakfast with Santa, Bob Long and Ernie Nitschke, would like to give special thanks to St. Stephen’s pastor, the Rev. Jack Arlotta, Mary Juliano and Katie Bisaro for their support and help to make the event so special.
The Knights also would like to thank the generosity of the Warwick community for their donations to the annual Christmas for Kids Toy Drive. The toys collected all went to local children in need that might not otherwise receive a toy this Christmas.
