Warwick Fire Department installs officers and honors heroes

Warwick - Last Saturday evening, the Warwick Fire Department held its annual installation dinner at The Inn at Central Valley. Officers of the department and its four companies were sworn in; several people also were honored for their actions on the night of May 13, 2007. On that night, Pamela Henry perished in a house fire at Borderland Farm. Firefighters, police and passersby rescued three other occupants of the house. Michael Dunleavy, a passing motorist and first to notice the fire, stopped to alert the residents and later assisted Police Officer Michael Moon with the rescue of Virginia Martin from her bedroom window. Christine Baruffaldi, also a passerby, stopped to assist Dunleavy and call 911. Firefighters William DiMartini Jr. and Daniel Cerkvenick, along with other firefighters, rescued Otis Henry, and Kaitlyn Martin from the third floor roof of the burning home Chief Bill DiMartini, Supervisor Michael Sweeton and Mayor Michael Newhard, along with state Legislative Coordinator Carmen DuBaldi, congratulated all involved for a job well done and thanked them for their efforts on that night.
