Warwick Football defeats Binghamton in season opener
Binghamton. Defense sets the tone in Week ‘0’ win
Warwick Varsity Football rallied behind an outstanding defensive to defeat the Binghamton Patriots 27-16 in Week “0” as the Wildcats chose a game rather than a scrimmage in the optional week prior to school opening.
Hard work in the summer paid off as Captain Jake Rooney (#44) paced the defense with 11 total tackles.
Johnny Accardo returned from injury in 2022 and has set the bar high for a defense that only allowed two first downs in the first 30 minutes of the game.
Junior to watch Wyatt Vreeland was tenacious from his defensive end position and recorded a sack and seven total tackles.
The offense was led by senior receiver Latrell Willis who had five receptions for 90 yards and a long touchdown. Lacrosse sensations Ryan and Dylan Sullivan combined for four catches, a touchdown and nearly 100 return yards.
Senior QB Wils Siebert ran for two touchdowns and threw for two in the Wildcats win.
