Two Warwick Valley High School scholar athletes sign National Letters of Intent

— Two Warwick Valley High School scholar athletes this week signed National Letters of Intent that will allow them to pursue their sports at the collegiate level.
Senior Kaeli Thompson, a track and field athlete, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Duke University of Durham, North Carolina. She will receive a partial athletic scholarship to cover 50 percent of the cost of tuition, room and board. The scholarship is valued at more than $35,000 per year.
Senior Taina Gamory, a member of the Warwick Valley lacrosse team, signed a National Letter of Intent to attend The University of Hartford in Connecticut. She will receive a partial athletic scholarship to cover a percentage of the cost of tuition, room and board. Tuition, room and board at Hartford total $55,370 per year.

Kaeli Thompson• Two-time All-American Pole Vaulter (Best Vault 13’ 2 ½” Indoors)
• Four-time County Champion, two-time Section Pole Vault Champion
• NYS place finisher 2018: (third Outdoors, second Indoors)
• Section IX Record Holder Pole Vault (Indoors 13’ 2 ½”and Outdoors 13’)
Recruited by Associate Head Coach Shawn Wilbourn to compete as a track and field athlete (both indoor and outdoor) for the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Duke competes against Clemson, Florida State, University of North Carolina, Kentucky to name a few.
Kaeli chose Duke over Michigan, Oklahoma, University of Virginia and Stanford. She will join Jenna Crean (Orchard Park) as only N.Y.S. recruits.

Family: Parents Heather and Greg Thompson of Warwick and superstar sophomore sister Kristin Thompson (2018 NYSPHSAA state qualifier for cross country).
Coached by Mike Potter, Kirk Thomas, Curtis Akacki, Tori Pennings, Gene Burns and Tim St. Lawrence.
Taina Gamory • All Division Lacrosse Selection 2018 (as a midfielder)
• Named MVP for 2018 season
• Entering fourth year on Varsity (two-time Section 9 Champions 2017 and 2018)
• Scored 35 goals and 14 assists as a Junior on Section IX championship team
• Attended Hartford University Prospect Camp fall of 2018
Recruited by Head Coach Megan Decker at University of Hartford to compete as a midfielder for the Division I Girls Lacrosse Team of the America East conference (AEC).
The Hartford Hawks compete against Stony Brook, Binghamton, University of Albany and UMBC to name a few.
Taina chose Hartford over FDU, Mt. St. Mary’s and Montclair State.
She will join her sister Gaby, who is a sophomore soccer player for the Hawks.
