Milford's Cooke named MAC n Commonwealth Player of the Week
Milford's Katie Cooke has been selected Middle Atlantic Conference's Commonwealth Division Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Cooke, a graduate of Delaware Valley High School, is a senior who plays singles and doubles for the Moravian College women's tennis team. Cooke won a trio of singles matches last week for Moravian in a 2-1 week for the Greyhounds. Cooke began the week with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 singles slot but Moravian lost 5-4 to Lebanon Valley College. She moved up to fifth singles and posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout as the Greyhounds defeated an NCAA Division II squad, East Stroudsburg University of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference by a score of 8-1. Cooke finished the week, producing a grueling three-set, two-hour victory at sixth singles by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the Greyhounds' 5-4 win over defending Commonwealth Division champion Elizabethtown College. Cooke did not compete in doubles action last week.
