M-W Crusaders move to 6-0

CENTRAL VALLEY - Monroe-Woodbury running back Neil Ingenito scored on three touchdown runs and returned an interception for a fourth as the Crusaders remained unbeaten and rolled over Middletown, 62-6, in a Class A-l contest at home. M-W quarterback Greg Sullivan got the ball rolling as his one-yard run capped a scoring drive with 7:06 left in the first quarter. Anthony Coccaro kicked his first of eight succesful PATs. Middletown answered right back when quarterback Dane Doucette threw a 42-yard TD pass to Ben Delaney to make it 7-6. But Chris Johnson’s 90-yard kickoff return quickly upped the Crusaders’ lead to 14-6. M-W scored five touchdowns in the second quarter. Four were Ingenito’s (two 20-yard runs, a 50-yard interception return and a 10-yard run). Sullivan also added a 50-yard run. The halftime score was 49-0. Dave Landesberg added a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Jon Rivera ran 42 yards for another in the fourth. Ingenito was the leading rusher with nine carries for 160 yards. Sullivan rushed 12 times for 134 yards. The Monroe-Woodbury defense held Middletown to 25 net yards of offense. Defensive tackle Chris Dollbaum had 14 tackles and linebacker Keith Hale added 12 for the Crusaders.
