Frozen Ropes holds open house for softball league

    Chester — Frozen Ropes will hold a “Girls Got Game” open house from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The full-day open house will introduce the Monroe-Woodbury Girls Softball League fall and winter softball programs and instructors. Kaci Clark, the new Softball National Director, will be on hand. She was a former UCLA star pitcher, member of the 1995 College National Champions, former pitching coach at the University of Florida, and player for the professional Stratford Brakettes. Free pitching and hitting lessons will be offered all day, with free hitting all day at the pitching machines, and free video analysis of hitting and pitching styles. A pitching clinic for varsity level girls will run from 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Diamond strength classes will run from noon to 3 p.m. At 6 p.m., there will be a Live Ice Ball game for players from 8 to 12 years old. At 7 p.m., there will be a coaching clinic for parents and coaches, and softball college-bound orientation for parents and players. No reservations are need, but teams and leagues who want to reserve spots in the events should call in advance. Girls from kindergarten age up to high school seniors are eligible to play in the league, though some restrictions apply. Registration dates for the spring season will be: from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Nov. 19 and Dec. 10, at the Monroe-Woodbury Middle School’s small cafeteria; and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at Central Valley’s small cafeteria.
