New book about the Battle of Minisink Ford released

Warwick - On July 22, 1779, the Warwick militia and other area troops under Col. John Hathorn pursued a raiding party of British Indian forces and the result was one of the deadliest battles of the Revolutionary War. A new book, “So Many Brave Men: A History of the Battle of Minisink Ford,” encourages new interest in the battle and the local men who fought there. Authors Mark Hendrickson, Jon Inners and Peter Osborne reveal primary sources about the battle that have not been seen in more than 150 years. For the first time, many of the veterans of that catastrophe speak to us about that fateful day from the distance of more than 230 years. They also speak of their dedication to the cause of freedom and liberty. The book is available for $43 from the Historical Society of the Town of Warwick Gift Shop (telephone: 986-3236) or by mail order from www.pienpack.com.
