Morrissey Overhead Garage Doors Nearly three decades in business in West Milford By Ginny Raue “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Henry Ford Wayne and Diane Morrissey appear to be living according to Henry Ford’s words. Married for 33 years this month, the couple has shared the workload and success of a business partnership for 27 of those years, as well. The Morrisseys have resided in West Milford for 33 years, raising their family, enjoying life in the township and operating Morrissey Overhead Garage Doors from their home. They are the parents of three daughters and grandparents of one little one with another expected any day now. Wayne Morrissey wears many hats, quite literally. Besides being a husband, father, grandpa and business owner, he has been a firefighter with West Milford Volunteer Fire Co. #6 for 27 years, serving as chief for the last five years. He has also been a West Milford Police Department Special Officer for 16 years, working special events and traffic and crowd control. On the job Morrissey, 56, learned everything he knows from his father-in-law, a garage door business owner. He was employed in technology at the Meadowlands and working part-time with Diane’s father when he decided to take the plunge and open his own business. “I enjoyed the work so I figured I’d try it, I’d be better with my own business. It was a big jump and Diane and I did it together,” he said. As it has turned out, it was a good move. “It’s been phenomenal. When I first started out the business was in West Milford, now I’m in five counties. It’s grown nicely and Diane and I get along great in business. What she doesn’t do, I do, and vice-versa.” What he does Serving North Jersey and into New York State, Morrissey’s business is a full service garage door company; selling, installing and repairing residential, commercial and industrial doors and shutters, garage door openers, transmitters, springs, cables, pulleys, rollers and key pads. New garage doors are routinely installed in one day and realizing how difficult it is to dispose of construction materials these days, Morrissey takes away and disposes of the old doors. He is also available for emergency calls. “If you have a problem we’ll come right out to help,” he said. He carries mostly C.H.I. brand doors, firmly believing they are a quality product, backed by industry and customer support. His repair services include all parts of a door including tracks and sections. Esthetically pleasing and good for the wallet Sometimes a door is worn out or not functioning properly, sometimes it’s just not that attractive any longer. Old wood and glass doors rot and leak costly heating and cooling from your home. New wood and steel doors are insulated and steel doors are maintenance free – no more painting. When Morrissey comes to your home he brings a catalog of door styles for you to choose from. The most popular style at the moment is the carriage house door but there is a wide variety available, including many window style and glazing options. “Anything you can think of we can get, even other brands if requested,” he said. When you call Morrissey Overhead Garage Doors, Diane, manning the office, will answer. She’ll take it from there and the next thing you know your home will have a new look and some added value.
