Local Recipes - Frosted Date Balls

Bill, Manager, Bank of New York 1 1/4 cup sifted all purpose flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/3 cup sifted confectioner’s sugar 1 tbl milk 1 tsp vanilla 2/3 cup chopped dates 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans Combine the flour and salt and sift twice. Cream butter and gradually add confectioner’s sugar. Add milk and vanilla to crearned butter. Stir in sifted flour. Blend in the dates and nuts. Roll into one inch balls. Place an inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for about 20 minutes until cookies are light brown. While cookies are still warm, roll in confectioners sugar. Makes approx. 3 dozen cookies.
