Warwick — The Herbert Kania Pediatric Group, which offers general pediatric medicine through offices in Warwick and Hewitt, N.J., continues to benefit from its two-year affiliation with Children’s and Women’s Physicians of Westchester (CWPW), one of the largest pediatric practices in the nation. According to the group’s Jeffrey S. Horowitz, MD, FAAP, the arrangement with CWPW makes perfect sense on many levels, and has proven beneficial for both organizations and, most importantly, for patients and their families. “We’ve been referring our patients to CWPW forever,” said Horowitz, who joined the Kania Pediatric Group in 1984. The practice was founded in Warwick in 1974 by Herbert Kania, MD, who is now deceased. Aligning with CWPW was a gradual process. There were four pediatricians at the Kania practice in Nov. 2008. “It was not a hard decision to join up with CWPW,” Horowitz said. “They’re a first-rate organization. To have an opportunity to be affiliated with them was a wonderful idea.” “As one of the largest pediatric practices in the nation, we are very pleased to have the Kania Group affiliated with us,” said Leonard Newman, MD, President of CWPW. “The Kania Group adds strength and scope to the broad range of health care services offered to children and families.” The Kania Group’s emphasis on general pediatric medicine and CWPW’s broad spectrum of subspecialties creates a fusion of medical practices that just makes sense. The group’s patients are reaping the results on many levels. The practice refers hundreds of children annually to the specialists at CWPW. Horowitz is joined at the Kania Pediatric Group by Luciano V. Barone, MD; Melanie M. Goth, MD; Mark L. Horowitz, MD; and Santoshi S. Nath, MD.
