The Warwick Valley High School Honors Chamber Orchestra has been invited for a special master class with the American String Quartet. Following the class, the Orchestra will attend the Quartet’s performance. The class and concert, hosted by Newburgh Chamber Music, is part of this non-profit organization’s educational mandate.
Elissa Maynard, the Orchestra’s director, said, “I am thrilled to bring this dedicated group of students for such a musically enriching opportunity.”
After the class, the public is invited to attend the American String Quartet’s performance on Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m., taking place at Kol Yisrael, 290 North St., in Newburgh. Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, $10 for students, and are available at the door (cash or check only), or online at newburghchambermusic.org.
This special concert marks the 50th anniversary of the group and the final season of its longtime violist, Dan Avshalomov. The program features Beethoven Quartet Opus 135, Shostakovich Quartet No. 13, and the Brahms Quintet in G Major to introduce their incoming violist Matthias Buchholz. The internationally renowned quartet was founded at The Juilliard School in 1974 and has performed worldwide to critical acclaim.
