Winslow Therapeutic Center’s Golden Gala had about 400 people join them to celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday, September 28. According to the organizers, the event raised at least $125,000 from donors to support Winslow’s mission of providing equine-assisted services to help individuals with disabilities.
The evening included food, music, and an auction. During a pause in the evening, Susan Ferro and Associate Executive Director Nikki Ferro were presented with a plaque from Warwick Town Supervisor Jesse Dwyer, a Certificate of Recognition from Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard, and a Certificate of Recognition from State Senator James Skoufis. Senator Skoufis also presented a check for an additional $60,000 via a grant from New York State to assist with a hardscaping project for their expansion of services.
Dawn Cosgrove and her daughter, Winslow client Parimala Cosgrove, gave a presentation about their experiences at Winslow during the past two years. Winslow and Parimala gave guests a live demonstration of what a therapeutic riding session entails, while Dawn shared her perspective and introduced the family on a more personal level. The event also included live music from local band Some Guys and A Broad.
”Fifty years! What a wonderful milestone!” Susan Ferro remarked. “We are so so humbled by the outpouring of support from the community. I’d like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Gala Committee, the community leaders, and everyone who joined us this evening or supported our event in some way.
