WARWICK — Another example of how the Warwick community unites to make a difference is the annual Holiday Project for Children in Need.
The Warwick Lions Club, Warwick Valley Rotarians, Chosun Taekwondo Leadership Team, Glenn and Susan Dickes, Backpack Snack Attack Program and Warwick Reformed Church plus many other businesses and individuals all work together to create a memorable holiday for local families in need.
The committee works all year to put this event together. Last year more 150 families were served. This year the holiday party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Warwick Reformed Church.
Children are treated to a party that includes a meal, games with prizes, a Santa photo, professional portrait and cookie decorating.
The children choose gifts for their families from a shop that is set up with all new items. Volunteers help them wrap the gifts.
Santa presents each child with a giant gift bag filled with an outfit of clothing, shoes, underwear, sox, hat and gloves, ShopRite gift card plus a special toy chosen just for them.
Transportation is provided if needed.
The community’s help is needed to donate any amount, sponsor children ($60 each), donate new gift items, clothing, desserts wrap gifts and to volunteer.
