On Sunday, May 23, Boy Scouts of America Troop 45 Scouts and Scoutmasters, friends and family members, planted 103 daylilies in honor of all veterans and especially to pay tribute to local WWII Army veteran Benjamin Valenti, a Purple Heart recipient who would have turned 103 this year.
The plants are at Veterans Memorial Park Entrance on the island behind the monument.
