Warwick. Second chance to nominate outstanding local volunteers for their community service
During the past 15 years scores of dedicated community volunteers have been nominated for Warwick Citizen of the Year and Outstanding Community Service awards.
Names of the winners are listed on plaques in the Town and Village Halls.
Many more deserving individuals narrowly fell short on voting by Warwick Valley Rotary Club’s selection committees. In some instances, nominations omitted major accomplishments, community volunteer services and honors.
Some runners-up were nominated in a year of abundant “super candidates.”
Rotarians Cindy Vander Plaat and Patti Lurye Dempster, co-chairs for this year’s event, are borrowing an idea from television’s quiz show “Jeopardy.”
They are offering a “second chance” for previous nominees who fell short to be re-nominated with updated information.
New and updated nominations must be emailed to cvp@warwick.net or pattilurye@gmail.com by Friday, Sept. 8.
A celebration for this year’s Warwick Citizen of the Year and the two Outstanding Community Service honorees will be held Wednesday, Oct 25, at the Landmark Inn.
