Warwick. Military veterans receive Quilts of Honor
Tom Gladitsch, left, a former commander of Warwick’s Nicholas P. Lesando Jr. American Legion Post 214, presented Quilts of Honor to representatives from the World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War eras during Post 214’s Aug. 9th meeting. The patriotic quilts were created and donated by Patricia Denomme, Gladitsch’s God daughter who lives in Michigan. The one-of-a-kind quilts, created to thank and honor military veterans, were presented to War II veteran Warren (Mac) McFarland, center, and Vietnam vet Charles (Charlie) Martinez, right. A third quilt was presented to Korean War pilot Jim Culligan at his home since he was unable to travel to the meeting. Post 214 members expressed their gratitude to Denomme, who also donated three original quilts to Warwick military veterans in 2021. Photo by Jerry Schacher
