Warwick. Library Foundation announces 2021 scholarship essay winners
The Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation has announced and congratulated the 2021 winners of its annual college scholarship essay competition.
The students met recently with longtime sponsors Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes, who initiated two Foundation scholarships in 2007, and Hope Arber, who added a third beginning in 2012.
The students are:
Benjamin Durgin, bound for Northeastern University in Boston, where he plans to study biochemistry.
Ellie Hanson, who will attend Clark University in Worcester, Mass., to major in Combined Languages (French/American Sign Language).
Nicholas Caban, who will obtain a degree in Criminal Justice at Orange County Community College, then decide whether to proceed to the Police Academy or pursue a career in the field of Homeland Security.
All three students will graduate this month from Warwick Valley High School.
All three students wrote exceptional essays on the topic: Indicate a character in a fictional book or an actual historical figure who has had a significant influence on you and describe that influence.
The topic for next year’s college scholarship essay competition will be announced in January 2022.
