Warwick hosts open house Sept. 26 at new town park, Wickham Woodlands

WARWICK — From 1 to 5 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 26, Warwick residents are invited to explore the town’s newest recreation area at the former Mid-Orange Correctional Facility.

This 733-acre parcel is a public/private partnership that will have businesses as well as public areas.

Wickham Woodlands park comprises about 50 acres, which include a floating dock for canoes, kayaks and sailboats, picnic area with grill areas, bicycle lanes and hiking/walking trails.

Beautiful People, an organization for adaptive sports for children with disabilities, will hold a baseball game near where they will build its new field.

Town buses will travel between areas, also providing a tour of the Corporate Park.

Local food vendors will be on hand to provide nourishment throughout the day.
