Warwick. Halloween Parade cancelled

The Village of Warwick will not hold the annual Halloween Parade this year due to the continued threat of COVID-19 and the ability to maintain and monitor social distancing.

“The Board of Trustees felt it was important not to have an event that attracts a large gathering or directs a large crowd to a singular neighborhood,” Mayor Michael J. Newhard said in a press release announcing the decision.

“Trick or treating is allowed and we request that precautions be made to ensure the safety of children and adults,” the mayor added. “We also request that trick or treating be done in the neighborhood you live in and limit the amount of time for this activity. Halloween fun at home with family or a small group of friends may be the safest alternative.”

Newhard also urged residents to avoid crowds, use hand sanitizer, gloves and wear a mouth and nose covering.

“Have a fun and safe Halloween,” he added. “And thank you for your continual vigilance to remain Warwick Strong.”
