Warwick. Deacon John Tomasicchio leaving this area and service at St. Stephen’s
Rev. Jack Arlotta, pastor of the Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr, recently announced that Deacon John Tomasicchio and his wife, Anne Boland, have decided to move from Orange County to a home they purchased almost a year ago in Charleston, South Carolina.
Tomasicchio is also seeking to transfer and “incardinate” as a deacon to that diocese.
Tomasicchio was ordained by Timothy Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of New York, three years ago and worked at St. Stephen’s with the altar servers, participated in baptism preparation and along with his wife facilitated “Encourage” groups.
In the Catholic Church the deacon’s liturgical ministry includes various parts of the Mass proper to the deacon, including being an ordinary minister of Holy Communion and the proclamation of the Gospel.
Deacons, like priests and bishops, are also ordinary ministers of the sacrament of Baptism and can serve as the church’s witness at the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
Tomasicchio and his wife, Anne, have been active members of St. Stephen’s Parish for 33 years. They raised three children, John, Mary and Kristen, who are all graduates of St. Stephen – St. Edward Elementary School.
“We will miss them and wish them well in this new chapter,” stated Father Arlotta.
