For the first time in the history of the Village of Warwick there are two women serving as Trustees on the Village Board: Mary Collura joined Carly Foster, Tom McKnight and Barry Cheney as a trustee when she was sworn into office on Apr. 3.
Collura won the election with 233 votes against opponent Scot Brown who had 199 votes. The Village held the special election on March 21 to fill the office for a one-year term due to a vacancy of an unexpired term.
“I would like to congratulate Scot Brown on running a strong campaign,” Collura said. “I would like to thank everyone who came out to vote, the Village staff and the poll workers for a smooth election process. I am honored and excited to be in this position and ready to get to work.”
Collura will serve as the liaison to the Office of the Treasurer, Youth/WYDO/Warwick Valley Community Center/Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition, Public Interface and Outreach, Senior Citizens, Ethics and Alternate Liaison to Parks and Recreation, Environmental and Veterans.
