SUGAR LOAF — The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted a luncheon on Jan. 17 for new members at the Cancun Inn, a new Mexican restaurant in Sugar Loaf.

“Each month, we welcome new members by inviting them to a luncheon,” said Sherry Bukovcan, first vice president and membership director for the Warwick Chamber. “There is no fee to attend and everything is complimentary.”

Last fall, the Cancun Inn, which is a member of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, moved from Route 17M in New Hampton, where it had enjoyed 15 successful years, to 1396 Kings Highway, formerly home to the Sugar Loaf Inn.

The Cancun Inn, which offers a variety of Mexican dishes like chicken fajitas, sliced steak in a chipotle sauce topped with mushrooms, Mexican lasagna and rice and beans served with margaritas, sangrias, Coronas and other beverages, is a family affair.

Israel Campos serves as the maitre d’ while his brother Julio tends bar. His other brother Mario is the chef, who works in the kitchen with their sister Sandra and brother Rudy.

“We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so that all our regular chefs, who work five days, are always here,” said Israel Campos. “We never need a substitute and that insures the high quality of our food remains consistent.”

During the luncheon Michael Johndrow, executive director of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new members and explained how they might take full advantage of the benefits of membership in the Chamber.
