Warwick. Beautiful People to host home run derby fund raiser on Sept. 18
Beautiful People will host its first “Out at Our Park” fund raiser at its field at Town of Warwick Wickham Woodlands Park on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date is Sept. 25.
Beautiful People, Orange County’s largest adaptive youth sports league, is a community sports organization and 501(c)3 nonprofit, founded by Peter Ladka in 2006.
The organization provides adaptive baseball, soccer, basketball and cheerleading for children and young adults with developmental disabilities and physical challenges, ages five and older. The purpose is to enable joy, inspires hope and fulfill dreams among those with disabilities and their families.
For 2021, organizers are planning a competitive home run derby at the Sept. 18 event, as well as food, drinks and other fun activities for kids.
The family-friendly Derby is a competition to find the best home-run hitter within a variety of age brackets and ability levels.
Adults and older athletes will be swinging for the fences, but younger competitors will have modified home run targets to keep the event fun and rewarding. Each participant will get ten chances to swing at soft toss pitches on one of our Wickham Woodlands baseball fields, and the player with the most home runs wins.
Beverages from local vendors like the Newburgh Brewing Company, Brotherhood Winery and Soons Orchards will be available for purchase.
Lunch and dessert is included with the early bird, (received by Sept. 11), $45 registration or $35 general admission ticket.
