Walking to school - like the old days

WARWICK — The school year began Wednesday, Sept. 4, and more than 100 children walked to Park Avenue School.

The village has been working with the Warwick School District, Park Avenue PTA and Park Avenue Principal Sandy Wood to insure safe routes to school. And the DPW has been re-striping crosswalks.

The New York State Department of Transportation also striped a new crosswalk at the intersection of 17A and Overlook Drive and added school zone safety signage as well.

The village now has crossing guards at three designated posts: Main Street and South Street, Oakland Avenue and Third Street and Galloway at Overlook Drive.
