The purpose of the contest is to shine a light on the Orange County Land Trust’s “Save the Mountain” efforts to permanently protect Sugar Loaf Mountain. The 300-acre property comprises forest, streams, wetlands, and wildlife habitat. The Orange County Land Trust intends to transfer the property to NYS Parks as an addition to Goosepond Mountain State Park, where it will be accessible to the public for outdoor recreation.
