Virtual. Orange County Chinese School opens Sept. 11

The Orange County Chinese School (OCCS) in the mid-Hudson welcomes back its new and returning students for the 2021-22 school year.

OCCS will continue remote learning in response to COVID-19 until Monroe-Woodbury School District facilities will be available to the public community in the future.

Orange County Chinese School Principal Kenneth Chan said the school has been striving to give equal emphasis to the diversity of students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Mandarin for more than three decades. In OCCS, there are different difficulty level Mandarin classes from beginner through advanced in order to provide variety and flexibility to suit different curriculum needs.

The main goals of Chinese learning for students in OCCS are:

Students will be able to engage in interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communicative tasks.

Students will be able to gain understanding of basic aspects of Chinese culture.

Students will be able to make connections between Chinese and other foreign languages in real life.

Orange County Chinese Association membership registration fee: $20

Full semester of tuition : $155. Discounts will apply for multi-child per family.
