Village Greenbelt Preservation Society is asking Warwick to purchase Pulpit Rock property

The Village Greenbelt Preservation Society has started the following petition:

:We are asking the Warwick Town Board to consider using PDR money (a land-purchasing fund that all new Warwick homeowners have paid into) to purchase the Pulpit Rock property at fair market value and turn it into a town park and green gateway to the village.

"Open spaces ringing the village was identified as essential to maintaining the rural character of Warwick as outlined in the comprehensive plan.

Amongst other things, this new town park could host a boat landing for the expanded Wawayanda, a wilderness trail, a geological study center and spaces for picnics and recreation.

"Pulpit Rock is a historic and beautiful natural monument and part of our shared environmental heritage.

"We demand that action be taken to preserve this special property."

As of Wednesday, Dec. 11, 803 people have signed the petition.
