VFW Post 4662 celebrates grand opening of Veterans Information Center

WARWICK — On Thursday, March 1, County, Town and Village of Warwick officials, representatives of Veterans, police, firefighter and EMS organizations and of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and others joined members of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4662.
They were there for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the new Veterans Information Center in the Bradner Building at 10 Colonial Ave. in the Village of Warwick.
"We will offer a myriad of services here," said VFW Post 4662 Commander Dan Burger, "and this information center is open to all veterans."
The new Veterans Information Center, for example, will offer assistance to veterans who have inquiries and need help in accessing benefits.
It will also host special events and seminars, which will address issues of interest to veterans such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), continuing education and counseling.
VFW Post 4662 has also partnered with the Albert Wisner Public Library to offer a computer lab for veterans.
The Veterans Information Center is open for all services on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Inc. was formed in 1899 by Spanish-American War veterans.
The VFW was then reorganized in 1913 as the result of a series of mergers of previous veterans' organizations and grew rapidly after World War I.
Today there are 1,300,000 members worldwide.
VFW Post 4662 was founded in 1945. It currently has close to 70 members who meet on the third Tuesday of each month.
