Tom Fitzgerald of Warwick joins Catholic Charities board

GOSHEN — Dr. Dean Scher, executive director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County (CCCSOC), and Susan Murray Tetz, board chair, have announced that Warwick resident Thomas Fitzgerald and Town of Newburgh resident David Jolly have been appointed to the not-for-profit human services agency’s volunteer board of directors.

“We are delighted to welcome David and Tom to the Catholic Charities’ board,” said Murray Tetz. “Both are long-time residents of Orange County with a demonstrated commitment of giving back to the community in which they live and work. In just a short time, they have already proven themselves to be assets to the efforts of our organization.”

Fitzgerald currently serves as vice president of Corporate Services and Business Development at Sterling National Bank. His office is located at the bank’s Tower Drive Commercial Loan Center in Middletown. A committed community supporter both personally and professionally, Fitzgerald is frequently found at events supporting the region’s not-for-profit and service agencies. He has joined the board’s development committee and has been actively fundraising for the annual Catholic Charities’ golf outing.

“As a member of St. Stephen’s parish in Warwick for nearly 30 years, I have long admired the work of Catholic Charities and the much-needed services they provide throughout Orange County,” said Fitzgerald. “Helping to raise funds for their programs and spread the word about the many services, is one way for me to give back to the community that has been so good to me. I’m happy to be part of the team that’s making a difference in the lives of others,” added Fitzgerald.

Jolly, who currently serves as chief operating officer of The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, held the office of Orange County Commissioner of Social Services for nearly nine years. As a board member, Jolly has joined CCCSOC’s programs committee which oversees the many programs and services provided by the agency at locations throughout Orange County.

“In my role as Social Services Commissioner, I had the opportunity to see first-hand the good work that Catholic Charities does for people in need in Orange County. From addiction prevention and treatment services to help for the homeless and immigration assistance, they strive to provide assistance to those who are struggling with life’s challenges and looking to make positive change in their life. I look forward to being more involved as a board member,” added Jolly.

CCCSOC’s board is comprised of volunteers from all walks of life from throughout Orange County. Potential board members are approved by the CCCSOC and then forwarded to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York for final approval.
