WARWICK — The Warwick Valley School District Art Department will sponsor a gallery "hopping" art show on Friday, May 1.

The Elementary and Middle school art show will be held at the District Office from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Then hop up to the High School lobby for the “Rock -n- Roll Art Show and Chair Auction,” beginning at 6 p.m.

The students have been working for several months to transform an ordinary chair into a work of art.

The chairs will be auctioned off to the public with 100 percent of the proceeds going to our graduating seniors in the form of art scholarships.

This is a not for profit tax free donation.

The chairs are painted in a style of an art movement, style or a particular artist.

The junior and senior portfolio class and a few other juniors and seniors as well as art department faculty members will be participating in the event.

The 30+ chairs range in style from Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, Nightmare Before Christmas and a special 4th grade class chair called SES Zentangle.

The district wide art show will consist of works from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The chairs will be on display before the auction in the high school lobby, so come early to get a sneak peak.

There will be finger food, original music performed by Brendan and Megan Rice and fun.

The auctioning of the chairs will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
