The odyssey continues for two Warwick teams

WARWICK — The Warwick Valley Middle School’s “Odd-A-Bot” team and Sanfordville Elementary School’s “Odd-A-Bot” team will both compete at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals after their first-place state win in Binghamton on April 8.
The Middle School’s OM team entertained the audience with their creative talents and slapstick humor at the state competition on April 8 at SUNY Binghamton, gaining them a first-place win in their division.

Middle School teammates Kayla Amato, Sasha Blanchard, Stephen D’Ambrosio, Kyle Gutierrez, Mary Hoey, and Aiden Woods, under the guidance of coach JB DiCarlantonio, will compete in the 38th annual Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University.
“Odyssey is having fun and making amazing things all by yourself,” said Kyle. “Going to Worlds is the greatest feeling - knowing that work paid off.”
The Sanfordville OM team, composed of fourth and fifth grade students, also placed first in their division in the same problem, “Odd-A-Bot,” with their nursery rhyme-themed skit and a visiting Pinocchio robot.
Sanfordville teammates Naai Korkoi Aryeetey, Killian Bauman, Ava Gell, Olivia Holland, Alexa Keys, Jay Seward and Julie Woods, along with coaches Rekha Woods and Donna Denny, are excited to move on to the World Finals.
“To me, Odyssey means expressing yourself creatively and showing what you can do,” said Julie. “Going to Worlds is the Olympics of creative thinking. It’s the best thing you can achieve, and really means everything to be going there.”
The competition, to be held May 24-28, will feature more than 900 teams from around the world.
