Temple Beth Shalom presents Scholar in Residence on Dec. 7

Tempe Beth Shalom on Saturday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m. will present a Scholar in Residence, Rabbi Sally Priesand, the first woman in 1972 to be ordained as a rabbi in the United States.
Rabbi Preisand will begin the evening by offering a Havdalah service and will speak on Rabbi Regina Jonas, the first female rabbi ordained in 1935 Germany. Rabbi Jonas taught in Berlin, as well as the Theresiendstadt Concentration Camp-Ghetto.
Unknown to only a few because her papers were hidden away until after the fall of the Berlin Wall when they were discovered. Rabbi Preisand’s talk will be followed by a dessert reception and an intimate question and answer session.
This program is sponsored by Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County and will continue with Rabbi Preisand speaking on her life at the Levine Speaker Family Series on Dec. 8, 2 p.m., at Temple Sinai, Middletown.
