SUNY Orange celebrates retiring faculty and staff
MIDDLETOWN — SUNY Orange kicked off its year-end celebrations and recognitions on May 10, by honoring 15 retirees, who combined to provide 471 years of service to the College, while also recognizing employees who reached service milestones.
The group of retirees featured English professors Kathleen Wright and Donald Parker, who each were members of the faculty ranks for 41 years.
The retireesThe retirees honored were: Flo Hannes, occupational therapy assistant chair and professor, 40 years; Gary Pavek, behavioral sciences professor, 38 years; Samuel Markovits, business professor, 37 years; Stephen Coccia, behavioral sciences professor, 37 years; Suzanne Krissler, business department chair and professor, 37 years; Susan Parry, library director, 35 years; James Givant, English professor, 34 years; Kathleen Malia, English professor, 34 years; Elizabeth White, business professor, 27 years; Ronald Vigliotti, network specialist, 23 years; Gerald Hamilton, building services worker, 20 years; Mildred Canonico, account clerk, 16 years; and Robbin Raso, assistant to the vice president of academic affairs; 11 years.
Headlining the service milestone awardees was business professor Steven Winter, who has taught at SUNY Orange for the last 55 years.
Winter topped a group of 51 employees who were feted for reaching five-year service milestones. In all, the 51 employees have provided 965 years of service to the College.
SUNY Orange continued its year-end festivities with the student awards Convocation on Tuesday, May 15 at Middletown’s Paramount Theatre, health professions graduate pinning ceremonies throughout the week and its 68th Commencement at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 17 on the Middletown campus.
