WARWICK — Kyle Allwood of Warwick took in some of last Sunday afternoon's sun while jumping the ramps at the skate board facility at Warwick's Veterans Memorial Park.

The Robert Newhard Sr. Skatepark has a pyramid with a six-foot quarter pipe and bank on one side and a bank to wall between two four-foot quarter pipes and a tight nine-foot vertical wall.

It also has small spine and tabletop and a four-foot quarter pipe and a two-foot high box and rail, both eight feet long.

Last summer, Project Knomad, a local initiative sponsored by the non-profit umbrella of Community 2000, worked to revitalize the skateboard park area. Students and advisors involved with Project Knomad repainted the skateboard ramps and trash/recycle bins. Financial support was provided by the Warwick Lions Club.

Allwood was among the Warwick Valley High School students involved in this community service project. The others were Darren Faul, Mekiah Hall, Caitlin Hunter, Keishawn Norman, Kira Poulson and Devin Walsh as well as William Walsh from the Middle School.
