Storm causes downed trees and closed roads in Bellvale

Iron Forge Road, just off Route 17A in Bellvale, was temporarily closed until volunteer firefighters equipped with chain saws removed this tree downed by a severe thunderstorm.
WARWICK — Nearly 600 Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., customers lost power during severe thunderstorms and very high winds that swept through the Warwick area around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, according to O&R spokesman Mike Donovan.
Ben Astorino, deputy supervisor of the Town of Warwick Department of Public Works, said the heaviest damage with downed wires and trees resulting in closed roads and detours, occurred mainly in the Bellvale area.
