Rotary to present Flags for Heroes 2021
Warwick. Application and donation deadline should b received by Aug. 13.
Once again everyone in the community can be part of a tribute to the heroes in our lives, past and present.
Warwick Valley Rotary is presenting Flags for Heroes later this summer and flag sponsors can honor anyone who they consider to be a hero.
It could be active and veteran military service members, relatives, teachers, supermarket employees, hospital workers, EMTs, nurses, delivery workers, policemen, firemen, other first responders and so forth.
At the corner of Route 94 and County Route 1
To sponsor an American flag for your hero, a donation of $50 will display a 3’x5’ American flag on a 10-foot pole with an individual medallion identifying the hero and the sponsor on the Chateau Hathorn property at the corner of Route 94 and County Route 1.
“Since the start of this event in Warwick, we have had the support of the Zueger Family from Chateau Hathorn for the display area, Brock Majewski from Allied Excavating for lighting the flags at night, and Leonard Brown for mowing while the flags are in place” said Laura Barca, Flags for Hero event chairman.
“This event could not be successful without them,” Barca added. “There is just something special about seeing those flags flying in that field. It’s breathtaking, especially at night. And the sponsor will receive the individualized medallion as a keepsake of the event.”
On display from Aug. 22 to Sept. 19
The flags will be on display from Aug. 22 to Sept. 19. All flag sponsorships received by Aug. 13 will be displayed in alphabetical order by the hero’s last name.
Sponsorships will be accepted at any time but alphabetical order cannot be guaranteed after Aug. 13.
