Rotary to present Flags for Heroes 2018

| 25 Jul 2018 | 04:38

For the second year, everyone in the community can be part of a tribute to the heroes in their lives, past and present, by making a tax-deductible donation of $50 to the Warwick Valley Rotary Club.
The donation sponsors a 3’x5’ American flag that will be displayed in honor of someone’s personal hero from Aug. 26 to Sept. 16 in the large field on the corner of County Route 1 and Route 94 by Chateau Hathorn.
Thanks to the generosity of Allied Excavating, says the Rotary Club, the flags will be illuminated at night.
While the hero could be a member of the military, police, fire department or other first responders who put their lives on the line every day, it could also be a teacher, coach, mentor, community leader or anyone else who has acted as a hero in someone’s life.
Last year 125 flags flew, with plaques identifying each hero.
Flyers with forms to fill out are available at Leo Kaytes Ford and many local Rotarian businesses, mostly within the Village of Warwick.
Forms can be given to any Warwick Valley Club member or mailed to The Warwick Valley Rotary Club c/o Flags for Heroes, PO Box 121, Warwick, NY 10990 along with your $50 check made payable to Warwick Valley Rotary Foundation.
You can also pay with a credit card.
The application and donation can also be made online by going to https://squareup.com/store/warwick-valley-rotary-foundation-inc.
