GREENWOOD LAKE — On Saturday morning, Sept. 22, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, Councilman Floyd DeAngelo, Justice Nancy DeAngelo and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce including Executive Director Michael Johndrow assembled with members of the Warwick and Greenwood Lake Lions Club and the Greenwood Lake Soccer Club.
They were at Winstanley Park to celebrate the grand opening of the new bathrooms and pavilion with a ribbon-cutting performed by Greenwood Lakes Lions Club President Monica Conway and past President and Project co-chair Arnett Jones, who had continued the project after his co-chair Sharon Gehler passed away.
The project to build new bathrooms and a pavilion was a joint operation.
The Greenwood Lake Lions Club had pledged $30,000 toward the project as a President's project first spearheaded by Gehler and then continued by Jones.
The Greenwood Lake Soccer organization paid for a water bottle filling station as well as six picnic tables for the pavilion.
In addition Warwick Lion George McManus secured a $5,000 grant from the New York State and Bermuda Lions Grant Foundation.
The Town of Warwick Department of Public Works built the building including the foundation, structure, septic system and water connections.
And the Village of Greenwood Lake helped with facilitating connections with their municipal water system.
The only outside contractors used were for plumbing and electrical work.
"This was a great community project," Sweeton said,"that will be a long-term benefit to all our residents as they enjoy this newest town park."
