GOSHEN — In a brief ceremony at the Orange County Veteran’s Coalition’s holiday mixer, hosted at the offices of the Orange County Veterans’ Service Agency, the State Commander of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) presented a check for $10,000 in support of the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry.

“Here in Orange County, we’re very proud of our rich Polish-American heritage that has helped shaped this County. We also have a long military tradition that dates back to the days of the American Revolution,” said Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana. “We are grateful to the Polish Legion of American Veterans for bringing these two aspects of our County’s history together with such a generous donation to the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry.”

The County’s Veterans Food Pantry provides nearly 200 veterans and veteran families in need with a delivery of non-perishable food and household items to their home each week.

“It was a pleasant surprise to receive such a generous donation from our friends at the Polish Legion of American Veterans,” said Tony Zippo, Director, Orange County Veterans’ Service Agency. “It is with support like this that we are able to assist the veterans in need in our community. On behalf of the nearly 23,000 veterans in Orange County, I want to express my gratitude to PLAV for making us a beneficiary of their generosity,” Zippo added.
